Little Miss Know it All

WOMEN’S SWIMSUITS

The Styles that are going to be in for this Summer 2012 are:

1.       Vintage inspired swimwear. Details like a High waist or a vintage print. The sexy Marilyn Monroe and pin ups style.  It can be fun and playful or sophisticated like Grace Kelly.

2.       Romantic Ruffled bikinis or swimsuits. The feminine and fun approach is a stand out at the pool this summer.

3.       Chic Crochet Bikinis. They attract your eye and distracting  your eye from the flaws.  It is a statement suit.

4.       Strappy Statements. Thin multi-straps coming from shoulders or sides of swimwear. Lace-up. They are striking and sets you apart from the norm. On the top or bottom but not both……..it’s too much.

5.       Bold Printed swimsuits with high contrast with fun pops of color. Their popularity is timeless.

What Swimwear is not “IN” this year?

Cutaways, one shouldered pieces, stones and glitter. These are styles that we are not seeing much for this year.

Some say that the Takini and Molkini are not going to be as in but I still see them on the runway. I say pick the suit that flatters your figure the most. What do you look hot in. Wear that!  A lot of swim wear will always be in style especially if it makes women look sexy.

When picking a swimsuit, the first thing you should think of is your body shape and type. Not every type of suit is going to flatter every figure.

FULL FIGURE

Pick the vintage look. It is great and it is the no. 1 suit this year. Wearing a one piece should be avoided IF you have a fuller tummy as it accentuates its size and silhouette. Your best bet is a Takini wear the top drops below the waist and NOT at the waist. This will draw your eye away from the largest area…..a major plus. Takini’s are also good because you can mix and match tops and bottoms. By putting the top or bottom with the most detail or accent on the area you want the eye to go to NOT the area you are trying to avoid. So if you have large breast that you are trying to avoid then put the busier pattern or detail on the bottom part of the suit and make the top more solid.

SMALL BUST/PEAR SHAPE

Choose the ruffle look. You can have the ruffles be on top the smallest location. It will balance out the bottom. Also the vintage look with cupped padding to give you curves.

TOP HEAVY

Choose ruffles by adding them to the bottom to balance out your bust. Halter tops and strong support will look better than the crochet looks which will have a hard time giving support.

SHORT LEGS

Take your eye to the top by selecting a suit with detail on top and a plain bottom. It will elongate you by bring your eye up and take away from short leg length.

ATHLETIC FIGURES

Choose a Strapping statement suit or crochet styles that show off your fit body or if you are feeling more adventurous   pick the Molkini. It will show off your toned shape.

What Color is IN for this Season?

As far as color the two colors that are walking the runway are Orange and Teal. The color teal is a flattering to all skin tones so it is my pick for this year.  Look at Kim Kardashian she thinks so too!

The best way to go with swimsuit cover-up's and accessories is to go with something that looks different than what everyone else has. Pick a style that shows your individuality by choosing to be different. Wear a sheer pant cover up or a beautiful print. Choose a unique stand out rather than just throwing anything over your suit because you already paid a ton for it. The cover-up is important because it is what people first see when you walk to the pool.
